Jaba Planet is a business management application developed and operated by Jaba Planet, based in Kenya. We provide tools for small businesses to record transactions, manage staff, track pending payments, and analyse business performance.

2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Account information — your email address and password when you create an account
- Business information — your business name, business type, and preferred currency entered during setup
- Transaction data — amounts, service names, payment methods, and dates of transactions you record
- Staff information — names and email addresses of staff members you invite to your business account
- Client information — client names you enter when creating pending payment records
- Service list — the custom services and prices you configure for your business
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data — how you interact with the app, including features used and session activity
- Device information — browser type, operating system, and device type for compatibility purposes
- Connection data — your IP address and general geographic location (country level) for security purposes
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and business profile
- Provide, operate, and improve the Jaba Planet service
- Sync your data across devices via cloud storage
- Generate reports, analytics, and insights based on your transaction data
- Process subscription payments through Paystack
- Send important service notifications (e.g. policy updates, account security alerts)
- Respond to your support enquiries
- Ensure compliance with our Terms of Service and applicable law
We do not use your data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. How We Store Your Data
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Authentication), a cloud infrastructure service operated by Google LLC. Firebase stores data in secure Google data centres and transmits all data over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Data stored in Firebase is protected by:
- Firestore security rules that ensure only you and your authorised staff can access your business data
- Firebase Authentication for secure identity management
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
A copy of your data is also cached locally on your device using browser localStorage to enable offline functionality. This local copy is not encrypted and is accessible to anyone with access to your device. We recommend using a device lock screen to protect your data.
5. Data Sharing
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Within your business — staff members you invite can access your business transaction data as required to perform their role
- Google Firebase — our cloud infrastructure provider stores and processes your data on our behalf
- Paystack — when you make a payment, your email address and payment details are processed by Paystack, our payment provider. Paystack's privacy policy applies to this processing
- Legal requirements — we may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users
We do not share your business data, transaction records, or client information with any other third parties.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you choose to delete your account, we will delete your personal data and business records from our systems within 30 days of your request, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes.
7. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — you can request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Correction — you can update your business name, email, and profile information directly in the app
- Deletion — you can request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Data portability — you can export your transaction data as a CSV or JSON backup file at any time from within the app
- Objection — you can object to any processing of your data that you believe is unlawful

8. Children's Privacy
Jaba Planet is intended for use by business owners and their staff. The app is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we make significant changes, we will notify existing users through an in-app notification. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
